Larry Otoo, a legendary Ghanaian artist and patron of Art Africa adorned the walls of the Art Africa Osu Gallery with his bright-coloured, vibrant, and energetic works of art.

Art Africa launched the Osu Gallery on Friday 27th May 2022. The event was graced by dignitaries. H.E. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the First Lady of the Republic of Ghana; Hon. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, MP for Korle Klottey Constituency; Hon. Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, Dept. Minister for Trade & Industry and MP for Akuapem North; Mr Yofi Grant, CEO of GIPC; Ambassador Jung-Taek Lim of South Korea; Dr David Marion of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity from the USA, and many other dignitaries from the International and Ghanaian communities.

One of the most renowned painters in Ghana today, Larry Otoo likes to refer to himself as a “contemporary traditionalist”. Born in Accra, Ghana in 1956, his subject matter is inspired by the everyday activities of ordinary Ghanaians. His vibrant paintings in oil and acrylic capture the rhythm and beat of daily life.

He holds a Master’s Degree in African Art and Comparative Literature from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He has been making art since he was a child when he used to be scolded for drawing charcoal on the walls. Larry has held exhibitions in Africa, Europe, and the USA. His paintings decorate Ghana’s presidential suite and Ghana’s chancery in Washington, D.C. Art Africa launched the Osu Gallery on Friday 27th May 2022.
